WHAT IS PHEV?

Plug-in hybrid electric vehicles are often shortened to hybrid or, to distinguish them from mild-hybrid vehicles, PHEV.

POWER
By combining an internal combustion engine with an electric motor for optimal efficiency and performance, PHEV delivers the best of both technologies.
REFINED
PHEV delivers a virtually silent drive in full electric vehicle (EV) mode and, for optimal refinement, ensures a seamless transition between the petrol engine and electric motor.
ELECTRIC
How you want to drive is up to you. Simply select the default driving mode, combining petrol and electric drive, or opt for the full electric drive of EV (Electric Vehicle) mode.
UNCOMPROMISING
When it comes to capability and performance, PHEV is precise and uncompromising and is fully capable of handling off-road situations such as wading or deep snow.

These plug-in hybrids combine an internal combustion engine with an electric motor to give improved driving performance with increased fuel efficiency.

Plug-in hybrid vehicles have a high voltage battery that can be charged from an external power supply. It holds enough charge for a practical electric-only driving range and is used for hybrid driving when the electric motor supplements the engine.

The electric motor converts the energy from the battery to produce instantly accessible torque to all wheels. It can also charge the battery pack through regenerative braking.

INTELLIGENT CONTROLLER

With a small electric-only driving range, plug-in hybrids are able to cross cities without using fuel. The vehicle decides the most efficient use of fuel to suit the driving conditions. When more power is needed, the engine will switch on and combine with the electric motor for a hybrid All Wheel Drive experience.


Electric All Wheel Drive is available on Range Rover and Range Rover Sport.

Whether you’re out and about or parking up at home, an assortment of charging options allow you to plug in wherever you may be.

The necessary Mode 2 Home Charging Cable is supplied with your vehicle. Home charging is ideally done overnight and can be undertaken whatever the weather. For faster charging times a wall box is recommended.

PUBLIC
PUBLIC

For charging your plug-in hybrid vehicle away from home, you will need to use public charging stations. These can be found at motorway service stations, fuel stations and public car parks. Your vehicle’s in-car infotainment system can highlight charging points along your route1.

FASTER CHARGING WITH A WALL BOX

With a wall box installed at your home, a full charge can be achieved in as little as 2.2 hours2. The wall box should be fitted by one of our specialists at a suitable location convenient to you. Ask your local Land Rover Retailer for more information.
